Initial Value = S = 6000

Value after 2 years = R = 5415

Duration = D = 2 years

i = rate of depreciation

R = S(1 - i)^D

5415 = 6000(1 - i)^2

5415/6000 = (1 - i)^2

0.9025 = (1 - i)^2

√(0.9025) = 1 - i

0.95 = 1 - i

i = 1 - 0.95

i = 0.05

i = 5%

Answer:

previous price =6000

present price =5415

time=2yrs

let rate=x

present price =past price *(1-rate/100)²

6000=5415*(100-x/100)²

6000/5415=(100-x/100)²

400/361=(100-x/100)²

20/19=100-x/100

20*100/19=100-x

100-2000/19=x

x=-100/19

rate =100/19%
