Cytosine is purine base
No. =30 (given)
Adenine is complementary to thymine which is a purine base
No. = 20 (given)
So, total no. Of purine bases =30 +20 50

Answer:

The answer is 50 bases.

Explanation:

According to Chargaff’s rule, The number of Adenine residues is equal to the thymidine, and Cytosine residues are equal to guanine residues. Therefore A=T and G=C.

Hence the A + G = T + C,

Purines= Pyrimidines,

20+ 30= 20+30 ( A= 20 therefore T is also 20 similarly C=30 and G will also be 30)

50=50

Therefore the total number of purine bases i.e. A+G= 50.
