No, all occupations do not provide the same amount of respect and money. Here's why:

  • Different occupations involve different natures of work. The difficulty and significance of the job determine its value in terms of money and respect.
  • For example, the job of a public administrator is considered of greater significance than that of a construction worker since the role of former is greater in influencing a larger number of people's lives than the former.
  • Demand and supply affect wages. If there is limited demand but greater supply for a role the wages would be lower. For example, there are larger number of laborers in the market than the demand therefore their wages are low. However, there are fewer doctors than the demand for their services therefore their earning is high.
  • Another factor that creates difference in wages across different jobs is the degree of skills that the role requires. If a job requires only manual labor then anyone possessing basic physical strength can do that. However, if a job requires greater skills or caliber like that of a porter then it would receive a higher wage and respect.
  • Therefore, due to several factors wages and respect various across different occupations.
