Human beings necessarily did not evolve from chimpanzees but it is believed that humans and chimpanzees had had a common ancestor. Also the first step of separation from that ancestor is unlikely to have resulted in modern chimpanzees and humans.Instead the two resultant species have probably evolved in their own ways to give rise to current forms.
