The root and shoot tip has actively dividing apical meristematic cells which adds new cells and cause rapid growth.The root will stop growing if the tips of the root are removed.

Explanation: This is because we have removed meristems which are responsible for the growth present on the tip. So if we remove them the roots stop growing. BTW You can try this practically.
