The cells are called as structural and functional units of a living body. ... Cells combine to form tissues, which further combine to form organs, organs combine to form organic systems, which further combine to formorganism. So, cell is the basic structural unit for all unicellular and multicellular organisms.

Yes I  agree with this statement : “A cell is a building unit of an organism”.

reason:-
1.cell is basic unit of life and a building  unit of an organism. 
2.All the living things (plants,animals)are made of cells.
3.just as a house is made up of bricks , in the same way , a living organism is    made of cells.
4.cell is smallest unit which has a definite structure and performs a specific        function .
5. cells come together to form tissues , tissues come together to form organs     ,organs come together to form organ system , and these organ systems          form
     an organism.
6. thus cells are the building unit of every living organism on this earth.
