Hello friend,

Good Question !

Here is your answer:-

Explain how rivers helped early men in their settlements. Think about that writing on a metal or stone is better than soft paper or not ?

First question:

Yes,rivers helped a lot to early men in settling as the early want food to eat and bark of trees or skin of animals as clothes. These are their only necessities and can be fulfilled by settling in a place near rivers as trees grow more near water bodies and animals also came to drink water from the river, helping them in their clothing.

Next is food, which they can found plenty near the river as there are many fish in the river and when small animals came near river to drink water;then the early man can catch and roast them on a fire to eat.

Now,coming to the second question:

Yes,writing on metals or stone is more beneficial as it can store the written information for a very long time but in case if a disaster happens then all the rocks will break causing the loss of information, however the rocks which are stored under the earth still tells us information about the early life.

If we compare rocks to paper, then yes, paper is easy to write on and can be easily stored but it requires a lot of deforestation on the earth and can be easily destroyed by just water or fire.

So,both have their own advantages and disadvantages.

hope it helps you.....
