So when animals exhale, they exhale carbon dioxide which their lungs converted to from oxygen.Carbon dioxide is a factor for photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is like respiration. Animals inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. Plants, one would say they inhale carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen. So animals give plants carbon dioxide while plants give animals oxygen
