Do you have experience of the instances given below? What is the causse of these effects?
1) A plastic comb or ruler rubbed on dry hair attracts pieces of paper.
2) If we pass near a polyster curtain again and again, it gets attracted towards us.
3) If we rub a blanket with our hands and take it near a metal object, a spark is seen in the dark.

we come across with these instances. main cause of this is the static electricity produced between the objects by rubbing which causes attraction or produce a spark.

- Basically rubbing some materials induces electric charges amongst them. These charges are called stationary charges and the phenomenon is termed static electricity.
- As charged bodies can attract uncharged bodies, we experience the aforementioned phenomenon in surroundings.
