Do you think Aradhana was justified in refusing to perform at the inaugural function? Why did she ultimately decide to perform.

No. Aradhana did not do the right thing of refusing to perform in the inaugural function.  She was under the wrong notion that she was not good looking because her complexion was dark. She had the bad habit of comparing herself with her sister.

She did perform at the function for her mother.  She had been the adopted daughter in the family yet, her mother loved her unconditionally.  Inorder to make her feel proud, she performed.

The answer is  "no" she was not justified at all in refusing to perform  in the inaugural function. She was having a wrong point of view that beauty is totally related to the skin color and as her sister color was fair and her own was black so she thinks that her sister is more beautiful as compared to her.
She decide to perform because of her mother,. This is because her mother love for her was absolute and she support her in whole of the life so she performed for the sake of her mother.
