No, India does not have an edge over China especially during the Covid times.

While Covid-19 hit both China and India in a strong way, China was able to recover and stabilise, while India continues to struggle against the disease and the situations brought about by it. The difference is because of the kind of governments and the legal system in the two nations.

China being a communist country has been able to enforce complete lockdowns and monitoring of its citizens. Strict measures have been taken to contain the infection. Its social media app, WeChat has played an important role in providing the government crucial information about the location and daily lives of the citizens. The Indian app Arogya Setu is not half as helpful in data collection because it has not been installed by everyone in the first place.

Additionally, India is a democracy and there are too many people who feel that freedom is more important than obeying rules. So, India cannot possibly push citizens to observe high degrees of precautions. The relaxed attitude of high level officials and even ministers does not help. These people themselves are organising election rallies, forget educating the people on staying indoors and staying safe. Also, India does not have the manpower, funds or infrastructure to handle the crisis.

While India is trying to focus on managing the Covid crisis, China has already achieved that and is back to normal life. Industrial work is going on in full swing and casualties are extremely low. It's economy is back on track. Work in India is however, hampered with random outbreaks occurring every now and then. China's strict policies have helped the nation save money, time, effort and manpower needed to control the disease, and use the same funds for other purposes.

In the meanwhile, India continues to spend on fighting the pandemic in a half- hearted way. As a result, neither is the disease coming under control, nor is the wastage of funds stopping. Soon India will run out of funds and the government will look for new ways to collect money, possibly through new taxes, adding to the misery of the common man.

To conclude, India in no way has an upper edge over China, especially during these times. What is worse is that along with the high-headed and selfish officials and ministers, we, the common citizens are also to be blamed for it.
