yes,Duke was fully aware of what it was doing for Chuck. Duke loved his master very much.Duke jumped on Chuck as if he was a missile of Joy when he first saw Hooper after his accident. Duke immediately understood that Chuck was having problem to maintain his balance as his left side was paralysed .Duke took the initiative for helping Chuck to get on his feet by himself.Duke would take Chuck for a walk and gradually Chuck was making progress. Because of Duke's determination Chuck was able to get on his feet by himself.
