Yes, I think that girls nowadays are more concerned about fashion and beauty.Everyone is following their fave actors and actresses.They are all trying to imitate the celebrities and are spending a lot of money on buying branded clothes, accessories, etc.Branded clothes are in huge demand due to the people's misconceptions about fashion and being like their role model.

and our media is responsible for this as it promotes consumerism and uses fashionable products to define beauty of people. Everyone is encouraged to wear high fashion jewellery or dresses, be obsessed with make up and accessories or else they are regarded as ugly fools with no fashion sense. People waste their money on irrelevant things to be accepted by others
