In the Lahore Resolution of the 1929-1930, the congress demanded for complete Independence of Purna Swaraj. So the powers that were provided to the Indians in the Act of 1935, were not exactly enough so that they can be deemed acceptable.

The question of gratitude is therefore completely out of the way. But when the elections took place under the Act of 1935, many of the Indians actually took part in that.
