yes because lots of their ways of working shows that it has its roots from the eighteenth century

Answer: During eighteenth century,merchants were more influential than bankers. They used to provide more than enough loan opportunities at higher interest rates. But, now with the spread of education people prefer banks which provide subsidy on the interest rate. So, they are more influential today than merchants.
