The shape of the chloroplast is unique for algae as they are present in diverse shapes in different algae.

The shape of the chloroplast in chara is discoid shaped, in chlamydomonas is cup-shaped , in Ulothrix is Girdle shaped, in Spirogyra is spiral shaped and in Oedogonium is reticulate shaped.
