The best way to solve problems and to make peace is definitely to think about it, analyze the situation, speak out where you are supposed to speak, to coordinate with others, to share opinions etc. All these are the only ways that are beneficial in the long run. Violence is just a means to waste time and show off one's 'so-called' power.
And remember, non-violence is not just this act of sitting alone in the corner and not hurting someone; It is the act of thinking wisely and voicing out your stand effectively without seeking the weapon as your immediate solution.
