actually at present poverty is measured by calculating the income of a country
but while calculating poverty - health, per capita income,pollution free environment, equality, birth rate of a person, immortality rate etc also should be considered.
as countries varry from population only income of a country cannot say the poverty estimation.

No, the present methodology of poverty estimation is not appropriate because it takes into account only the basis needs i.e. food, clothing, etc. But the quality of these basic necessities is the lowest quality available, which is not appropriate.
