In absolute sense, I think reservation for 'have-nots' deprive the 'have-ones' their fundamental right to equality. But it was discussed and debated in the constituent assembly and it had been decided that for those castes, tribes who had suffered traditionally for generations, there needs to be a positive discrimination for them so that they can join the mainstream and compete with the rest of the citizenry.
Consider yourself in a race of life. All of us are running in this race. But who wins at the end? Those who start at the front, those who have greater speed. But in the race over here, some of us are not fortunate enough to either start at the front or to possess greater speed only because they are born in a particular caste or a tribe. So it becomes our moral responsibility to also enable them to win the race by empowering them. Hence this positive discrimination.
