Nuclear weapons brings cons and prons with it.some countries see it as stregthen its power among the world and other see to protect onself.

as far as we conclude from human history there is no weapons which has ever made to bring peace in the world:,-).

answering to your question, i don't think that nuclear weapons promote peace ,it brings human losss as well as mass distraction of environment.but somehow we have to admit the fact that it may provides a power to small nation to stand besides larger nation(like north korea and america subtle happend in recent years)
