Yes Bishop was justified in doing so because he helped a poor by the money he got by selling the salt cellars.

Yes Bishop was right in selling salt cellars to him because he was an ideal person. He could not bear the thought of an old and Sick lady to be thrown out of the house due to the non payment of rent. He always help the people in the time of needs.
