“Every cloud has a silver lining” is a proverb full of the great message of hope. This means hope is real. Like lightning pierces the dark clouds and makes them rain down for the thirsty earth, hope makes everything alright. In the story, the narrator’s idea of the chits given to new guests was not a standing solution for Promodini’s d eaf-d umbness. The real solution was to help her overcome her disability. Everyone realized it only when Mr. David arrived at the guest house. The silver line of hope that he emitted was his playing with Promodini. If he hadn’t done so, Promodini’s chances of improvement could have been far-fetched or impossible.
