In a fertilized ovule zygote remains dormant for some time because the embryo which is developed from zygote may obtained sufficient nutrition from  endosperm which take time for its complete formation.

the zygote have to wait for endosperm formation, thus remains dormant fore some time.

Why do you think the zygote is dormant for sometime in a fertilizedovule? The zygote is formed by the fusion of the male gamete with the nucleus of the egg cell. The zygoteremains dormant for some time and waits for the endosperm to form, which develops from the primary endosperm cell resulting from triple fusion.

hope it will help you
