A cell needs food in the form of Glucose, which is supplied to the cells by the blood after it is absorbed by them from the intestine.
Also, a cell stores molecules of food in the form of granules in the cytoplasm.
Hence, food is required by the cells to carry out various life processes.
The Mitochondria produces ATP from the oxidation of food (or more specifically Glucose!)
