does anyone know how to do the golden drain stoichiometry case study?
Answers
This case study presents a hypothetical situation that utilizes the principles of stoichiometry and limiting reagents to a chemical production problem. It is a collaborative activity during which students “investigate” the actions of a new employee and make recommendations based on their findings. The monetary impact of a stoichiometric error is highlighted to better inform students about the role of stoichiometry. The activity can be implemented in a typical lecture period or performed as a pre-laboratory assignment. We have adopted this activity in both large and small classrooms. Student assessment of the activity is very positive and our assessment results demonstrate emphatic student acceptance and desire for such activities in the General Chemistry curriculum. The activity questionnaire and answers are provided as supporting documents for integration in current curricula.
