Since unlike poles attract each other, therefore the iron piece is attractedtowards the end of the magnet. So the piece of iron first becomes a magnet and then it is attracted. which is the reason that induction precedes theattraction.

Hii..
Induction is the process by which when two charged objects are brought together the magnitude of charge of one object induces the charge on the another object.
If positive charge is brought near a neutral object ,it brings movement of the negative charge towards itself in the neutral body .
This doesnt mean that the two objects are attracted towards each other, only charges are being atrracted.
So if We bring + body near a neutral body
there will be accumulation of -ve charged electrons on the side of the positvely charged body .
hope this helps!
