NO, it is not necessary that Sublimation occurs only when a solid is heated as naphthalene balls- when kept in open evaporates slowly in the air even at room temperature.


BUT,

substance like camphor evaporates only on heating it.

Not imposrtantly, for eg. in substances like amonium chloride, go through the process of sublimation without really getting heated. Eg are, odonil and naphthalene balls.
