The refreshing is done by the memorycontroller which is part of the chipset on the motherboard. Static RAM(SRAM) does not need refreshing and is used in memory cache on the central processing unit (CPU); it iscalled L1, L2 and L3 cache.

bahusahasravan: Usually L1 Cache is located in CPU right?
bahusahasravan: By the way is there any ROM unit present in CPU?
papu154898: yes it is
bahusahasravan: Can you explain more about the ROM unit?
nsopagu: Short for Read-Only Memory, ROM is a storage medium that is used with computers and other electronic devices. As the name indicates, data stored in ROM may only be read. It is either modified with extreme difficulty or not at all. ROM is mostly used for firmware updates.
