Yes, plastic coating is done nowadays. They coat a layer of plastic over metals to prevent from the contact of air and water that is resistant towards corrosion.
And it's done using the hot dip method.

Nowadays we coat plastic on metals to stop air or water to come in contact with it . Basically it is done to stop corrosion. it's done the hot dip method.
