) Does zinc evolve H2 gas when it reacts with dilute HCl and dilute HNO3 ? Express
the reaction with the equation. If zinc does not reacts with some specific acids,
then give its reason.

Part 1

---------------

Zn+HCl = ZnCl2 + H2

Normally, Metal Reacts with HCl and H2SO4 to liberate H2 Gas

Metal + Acid = Salt + Hydrogen

Part 2

--------------

But,

when metals react with dilute HNO3

Then, Instead of H2 gas H2O Is Formed along with Oxides of Nitrogen

Metal + Nitric Acid (HNO3)

Metal + Nitric Acid (HNO3) = Metal Salt + H2O + Oxides of Nitrogen (ex- NO, NO2..)

Exception : Mg and Mn can React with HNO3 to evolve H2 Gas (As same as Part 1)

Answer:

Zn + HCL ------> ZnCl + H2

Zinc does not react with HNO3 only Mg and Mn react with HNO3
