Over millions of years, layer after layer of sediment and other plants and bacteria were formed. As they became buried ever deeper, heat and pressure began to rise. The amount of pressure and the degree of heat, along with the type of biomass, determined if the material became oil or natural gas.

Hey mate,
oil was formed from the remains of dead animals and plants. Some dead trees may have been in the deposits, but small sea animals and algae mostlyformed the oil. Trees usually turned into coal. ... The rock produced conditions of both heat and pressure which caused oil to form.
hope it helps u ✌✌
