Dorji has a few bottles of soft drinks in his restaurant. But , unfortunately, these are not labelled. He has to serve the drinks on the demand of customers. One costumer wants acidic drink, another wants basic and one wants neutral drink .How will Dorji decide which drink is to be served to whom?

He could take sample from each drink and react it with methyl orange solution. Is the drink is nuteral the colour of methyl orange will remain orange. If the drink is acidic the colour of the Sol. Will become pink.Simulaly for base it will turn to yellow colour.

Hope it helps.

Dorji will identify the drinks in the following way -

• At first he has to take little amount of samples from all the three types of cold drink bottles.

• Then he has to take three strips of litmus paper and soak the three strips into the three samples.

• Now,one strip will show red colour, one strip will show blue colour and the third strip's colour will stay unchanged.

• The strip which will show the red colour was surely dipped in acidic solution. The strip which will show the blue colour was surely dipped in basic solution . The unchanged coloured strip will be surely soaked in the neutral solution.
