Debate against dowry :
To start with Dowry is a social evil and its toxicity eclipses its benefits. Some may debate that it financially stabilizes a newly married poor couple, but that does not happen in practice.

In most cases, one particular family has to reward the other with expensive gifts they can barely afford. It often leads to an economic burden on the bride’s family.

Helping the couple financially can be done through presentation as well, dowry system makes it an obligation or a duty.

It may help in inter-caste marriage or, but in this way, it also makes the caste system all the more relevant.

Dowry lowers the social status of women. So in general Dowry is an evil practice which has been rightfully declared illegal in various part of the world.
