Dr. B.R. Ambedkar worked hard for the improvement of the conditions of the untouchables, who were actually the lower castes of the society.


Since he belonged to the family of untouchables himself, he could feel the real problems of these poor and ill-treated people.


He joined Harijan movement initiated by Gandhiji and also became the spokesperson of the scheduled castes and tribes in India.


He fought against the social injustice met by the backward classes in the hands of the upper classes of the Hinduism.


He tried to bring social reforms for abolishing the caste system in India.
