In the play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, written by Shakespeare, King Oberon was the king of the fairy world. He behaved like an enemy to his wife. Queen Titania, Oberon's wife, had a changeling boy. This changeling was the son of Titania's servant, who died saving the Queen. Queen Titania dearly loved this changeling but Oberon was jealous of the changeling. In his jealousy and after their fight, Oberon tricked Titania to fall in love with an animal using the love potion.

Oberon as a friend to lovers:

Whereas, Oberon behaved like a friend to the four lovers in the woods. When he saw Demetrius hating Helena, he asked Puck to put love potion in his eyes so that when he wakes up he will fell in love with her.

In this way, Oberon played both the role of an enemy to his wife and friend to the lovers.
