Construction:

  1. draw a circle of the radius 6cm
  2. from the point of centre O take 10cm using measuring scale and mark as P
  3. draw a perpendicular bisector for the line OP
  4. using the perpendicular bisector draw a circle
  5. from the point P extend two lines to the circle of radius 6cm the extended line have to touch a point on the circle at top and bottom
  6. mark the touched point as A and B
  7. A and B are the required tangent
  8. To verify

OP^2=OA^2+OB^2

using this formula after measuring the length
