Aerobic respiration is halved into three major stages: Glycolysis, the Citric acid cycle and the electron transport chain. Glycolysis: Glucose ( 6 carbon atoms) is divided into 2 molecules of glyceraldehyde phosphate (3 carbon each), and again these are revolved into pyruvate (3 carbons each). This profits 2 ATP and 2 NADH.
- One molecule of glucose upon full oxidation in the existence of oxygen yields 38 molecules of ATP this is how carbohydrates are inadequate in diet, then proteins or lipids are borrowed for energy production.
