Iron is more positive electro than copper. Or it is less reactive than Iron to copper.

It will displaces the Copper in the solution it will deposited with red-brown residue or precipitated as red. So the iron is plunged into a CuSO4.

Fe + CuSO4 ———-> FeSO4 + Cu

Use a positive battery terminal and take an iron strip and connect it to a negative battery terminal.
