Image formation by compound microscope are :-

A compound microscope is an optical device used to see magnified images of tiny objects. It has two lens they are objective lens which is a convex lens and an eyepiece which is also a convex lens.

The magnifying power of the compound microscope is defined as the ratio of the angle subtended at the eye by the virtual image to the angle subtended by the object at eye when both are at least distance of distinct vision from the eye.

There are two cases in compound microscope. They are:-

a) When the final image is at least distance of distinct vision and

b) When the final image is formed at infinity.
