bulb has glass case mounted on metallic base. inside the glass you can see a thin wire coil called filament. as electric current passes through filament of a bulb generally its temperature rises to about 2500 degree Celsius.

the filament of a bulb is made from metal called tungsten. it is one of most temperature resistant material according to me.... when filament becomes hot, it emits light.
