Construction of a line segment AB of length 6 cm. and its perpendicular through a point on it .

Step-by-step explanation:

(1) Draw a line segment AB = 6 cm

(2) mark a point P on the line at a distance from A to P = 2 cm

i.e AP = 2 cm

(3) Considering P as the centre and measuring convenient radius, draw an arc which touches the line AB at R and S.

(4) Considering R and S as centers and radius which is greater than RP, draw two arcs which cuts each other at the point O.

(5) Now join the points PO and extend in both directions.

(6) Here, OP  is the required line which is perpendicular to AB through the point P.
