We have to divide 7 in the ratio of 4:1

To divide 7 into the ratio of 4:1 is to divide 7 into a part that is 4 times as much of the other part.

4/5 of 7 = 5.6 cm

the other part is 7 - 5.6 = 1.4 cm

If we draw a line segment PQ of length 7 cm we must mark R at a distance of 5.6 cm from P to divide the length of PQ in the ratio of 4:1
