Given : a line segment pq of 7.5 cm

To find : Draw  line segment and its perpendicular bisector

Solution:

Step 1 : Draw a  ray PZ

Step 2: Take compass width = 7.5 cm using ruler

Step 3 : Taking P as center draw an arc using compass intersecting PZ at Q

PQ is line segment = 7.5 cm

Step 4 : Reducing compass width slightly taking P as center draw arcs on both sides of PQ

Step 5 : Keeping compass width same as in previous step & taking Q as center draw arcs such that it intersects arc drawn in previous steps at M & N

Step 6 : Draw a line XY passing through MN intersecting PQ at R

XY is the perpendicular bisector of line segment PQ
