Step-by-step explanation:

As we know that diagonals of a rhombus bisect each other at a 90-degree angle.

Given:

Length of the diagonals HY = 7.6 cm

Length of diagonal AI = 5 cm

To construct:

A  rhombus HIYA

Steps of construction:

  • Draw line a segment AI of 5 cm.
  • Open the compass to more than half of the length of the line segment AI. And from point 'A' scribe an arc above and below the AI segment.
  • Again from point 'I' scribe an arc above and below the line segment AI in such a way so that it cuts the previous arc made and label 'O' and 'Q' respectively.
  • Join OQ with the straight line, making a perpendicular bisector on the line segment AI at a point say, P.
  • Now open your compass half the length of 7.6 cm that is 3.8 cm.
  • And from point P make an arc above and below the line segment AI cutting the straight line at points 'H' and 'Y'.
  • Connect the point 'H' & point  'A', point 'H'& point 'I', point  'Y' & point 'A', and point 'Y'& point 'I' with straight lines to obtain a rhombus HIYA.

The rhombus HIYA is in the image attached.
