Explanation:

When a wire filament inside the bulb is heated it starts glowing hence emitting light rays. The bulb was invented by Thomas Edison. Tungsten is most commonly used to make the filament as it is able to withstand high levels of heat. A glass enclosure surrounds the filament to prevent oxidation.
