Answer:

Write to Express, and not to Impress!

I wasted a few years of my writing journey, trying to impress my audience even though I had something else to convey.

I was a Trader in the Stock Market by choice. I thought of sharing my findings and knowledge with many people who were losing money in trading. However, unconsciously my mind started expecting appreciations from the people. I used to feel good whenever I get compliments from the people. How do I write a great story?

Later I have realized my mistake and followed these 5-steps to improve my writing:

First, prepare a blueprint for the story. I mean how to start, opening statement, content in all the chapters and ending, etc. Always remember the first chapter, and the first page in any book is very vital. If I start to read a book, and if I don't go to the second page (or second chapter), I will not touch that book again. I hope this is the same case with everyone

Next, you can start writing with all your emotions around the plan. Fiction writers can take more liberty to express their emotions. Whereas Non-fiction writers have to be careful as their content should revolve around passing some useful information or providing solutions to some problem.

Once you complete the content, use Grammarly or any other tool to fix all the issues like spelling mistakes, grammar, text rewriting, etc.

We love our kids, irrespective of how they look and what they do. Similarly, for us, it's difficult to find mistakes in our content. Hence, it's better to approach a friend or take professional editing services (it doesn't cost much).

In the end, no story is a perfect story. We need to accept the fact and move on

I hope this explanation helps!

By the way, I have attached a small paragraph (opening statement in one chapter) from my next book.

Please read and let me know what do you think?

"If you really want to understand it, the first thing you will probably want to know is where I was born, what my awful childhood was like, and how my parents always fought with each other, but I don't feel like….."

Tears were flowing from Sheela's eyes when she started answering my final question. I was not sure how to react, as we were sitting in a coffee shop. I thought she was a brave girl, and to save the time, I have asked that final question without much diplomacy (of course, with her permission).

I did not give any response and give her ample time to recover herself. Several people in the coffee shop were watching us. I was not worried as similar incidents happened in the past with my counseling and healing sessions. But I had realized what I thought with her was true!

I saw her breath rate became normal, and she was able to manage herself.

So I asked her, "If you prefer, we can wind up today, and we can discuss some other time."

She was quiet for some time, and when she spoke, her voice was calm and balanced.

She said, "Your assumption is right. I made a few mistakes, and I don't mind to admit. I know karma is acting now, and I don't think I will meet you again to discuss my problems. Sorry"

And she walked out of the table. I sat there for some time and ordered one more coffee. My mind started thinking about how this interaction with Sheela began.

To be continued….
