Estimating area of the circle using graph:
- Draw a circle of radius 3 cm on a graph sheet.
- Count the number of full squares inside the circle.
- Number of full squares = 16
- Count the number of squares with more than half area.
- Number of such squares = 8
- Count the number of half squares.
- Number of half squares = 8
- Now, area of circle
= 16 + 8 + (8/2)
= 24 + 4
= 28
Finding area using formula:
r = 3 cm
Area =
= (22/7)(9)
= (3.14)(9)
= 28.26
