Given:
- Draw PQ
- Take any point D lying between P and Q
- Measure PD, DQ and PQ
To check:
- PQ = PD + DQ
Condition 1.
- D lies on the line segment PQ
- Refer to (figure 1) in attachment
- PQ = 10 cm
- PD = 4 cm and DQ = 6 cm
- Thus PQ = PD + DQ
Condition 2.
- D doesn't lie on the line segment PQ
- Refer to (figure 2) in attachment
- PQ = 10 cm
- PD = 4.2 cm and DQ = 6.4 xm
- Thus PQ ≠ PD + DQ
