Ans)

  • With time bar magnets becomes weaker due to free magnet pole.
  • The ends repel each other and this disturbs alignment of tiny magnets.
  • To prevent this disruption of bar magnets they are stored in pairs with unlike poles opposite so they don't attract metal debris and can't be  easily  demagnetized,
  • Alnico magnets should be stored with "keepers", iron or magnetic steel plates that connect the poles of the magnet.

Advantage - To avoid its demagnetization.

Magnets can loose their magnetic power if we do not take proper care of

them.

The following precautions must be taken for storing magnets:

Magnets should never be handles roughly .

Magnets should never be heated.

When we are not using magnets they should be stored along with magnetic keepers  to avoid self demagnetisation.

A magnetic keeper is a piece of soft iron.

Two magnets are arranged with their opposite poles lying side by side.

A piece of wood should be kept between them and two pieces of soft iron placed across the poles
