Discovery- In ancient China, the emperor and empress were sitting in their garden and drinking tea. At this time, the empress found out some white balls which were stuck on mulberry trees. When the empress asked the servant to bring her one of those balls, a silk cocoon fell in he cup of tea and separated into fine threads of silk. The empress who was fond of clothes and fabrics, noticed this and started to manufacture clothes made of silk. This was kept as a secret for many years until one day, Ibn- Battutaah, a Moroccan travelled, noticed the fine Chinese clothes and spread this news in the whole world.
